MS504 Critical Game Studies

Advanced critical techniques and approaches to game design, game theory, and the gaming audience. Using techniques of critical theory, ludology, and game theory.

  1. Analyze current theory and analysis on games, game design, and game structure

  2. Evaluate current games with the tools of semiotics and structural analysis

  3. Compose several essays based on course materials

  4. Evaluate advanced game design concepts and theory

MS509 Game Processes and Pipeline

A 5 part project that makes up the core of MS509 working with the UAT Game Studio team Fizzling's Fun House - Minigames for Kids.

Part 1: Interviewed the team and document their existing pipeline.
Part 2: Research pipelines used by professional studios with similar projects
Part 3: Develop improvements to the team's existing pipeline.
Part 4: Mentor and help Fizzling's Fun House team implement improvements, and create training materials for future teams.
Part 5: Analyze the results of the team's changes and assemble a final report.

MS546 Startup Funding and Marketing

This course provides the understanding and skills needed to resource and communicate on start-up organizations. Focusing on social models of funding and connecting the value of products to customers. 

​

MS503 Game Marketing and Advertising

This course examines the process and potential for the marketing and advertising of games. The unique needs of this market and target audience will be analyzed. In addition, the traditional marketing functions of product, price, distribution, and promotion as related to the game industry will be discussed.

MS544 Organizational Metrics and Analytics

Knowledge work and decision-making are associated with technology teams, products, and organizations framed by data applications. Problem-solving and demonstrating action from reading, assessing, and decisions implemented from data and metrics.

MS624 Managing People in a Technology Environment

Cultivating skills as a leader within technology organizations and teams. Differentiate the traits and behaviors of leaders and leadership compared to managers and management.

MS555 Agile Product Development

How to create a project management Gold Card. Overall project life cycle from the production and developmental phases. Learn who the stakeholders are and why they matter.

MS546 Startup Funding and Marketing

Methods for entrepreneurship. Learning proper terminology and processes for startups. Analyze both successful and failed startups. Best methods for pitching a new company. 

​

MS528 Founding and Operating a Technology Startup

This course focuses on entrepreneurship and founders. Understanding your market and how to differentiate your product/service line. Legal needs defined and proper costing and financial setup of creating a company.

MS682 Startup Strategy

Personalized learning takes in the needs of the student's abilities into an entrepreneurial experience of industry stands and trends. Through applying strategic practices, students develop skills to write their vision and mission, determine business models, and formalize a Strategies Plan, ready to present to stakeholders and venture capitalists.

MS539 Programming Concepts

Graphical User Interface (GUI) implementation for computer/software development. Knowing number systems concepts of engineering. Produce a working concept to show multiple pages and interactivity beyond just buttons.

MS579 React Native

The future of mobile development with React Native. Create exciting mobile apps for support of both android and iOS platforms. Just code once ans save development time with React.js.

MS516 Makerspace Tools

Explore a range of maker tools and technologies for rapidly prototyping product designs, to gain proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and other maker tools.

Makerspace (Build techniques, digital prototyping, maker tools, materials, and fab decisions) Agile Development (Incremental Design, product incubation, prototype to market, social feedback systems)

Creating and incubation of future products, Learning startup strategies, MVP, and launching products.

​

Blockchain Technology-

Understanding Blockchain from History, approach, and Potential. Learning the architecture, models, coding, servers, and applications in the development.

These modules of immersion in an intellectual atmosphere and innovative culture will develop critical evaluation skills into fresh, original, and unique abilities to create the next generation of game development.
